This is just one of the many thank you notes our libraries receive from their Ready to Read families:

Welcome to Ready to Read, a grant-funded program for parents, caregivers, childcare providers and teachers to educate them about the six essential pre-reading skills that every child needs to know so they'll be ready to read when they get to school. Coordinated by the Central Texas Library System, Inc., the project includes 10 public libraries and 4 Head Start agencies in 3 central Texas counties.
The grant consists of three parts - LEARN, REACH & TEACH:
- Public library staff LEARN to teach the three Every Child Ready to Read early literacy skills classes. Parents, caregivers and teachers LEARN early literacy tips to help their children get ready to read.
- Public library staff REACH out into the community - primarily with local Head Start and Early Head Start agencies
- Public library staff TEACH the free classes to parents, teachers and caregivers

This website is for librarians and Head Start staff involved in the project. You will find useful information to help you LEARN, REACH and TEACH early literacy skills to families in your communities.
This website is a wiki, a collection of web pages that can be edited by a group of people. You can add information, ask questions and give advice. If you have any questions, contact Suzan Nyfeler at the Central Texas Library System, Inc.
Next Workshop:
Ready to Read - Share What's Worked
At this training session you will share what's worked - and what's not, tell how you've used the program, and pick up new ideas. Training will be offered at the Killeen Utility Collections Meeting Room on March 10 and the West Waco Library on March 11. Please attend *one* of them.
